Today Molly cut the 6th grade shorter then usual because they had a writting workshop to work on. In place of Halloween, the school has a Harvest Celebration. This makes it a non-holiday (they've had Jahova's whitnesses who faught the school in earlier years because of holidays) and small children get scared by older children's costumes.
Molly decided to take on the kids solo for Thursday because she knew they'd be comming down from serious sugar highs and thought that as hectic as things had been in the past two days wouldn't compare to the day after halloween. Also, she told me that the past two days haven't really reflected how the children behaved on a normal basis and that her teaching stratagies haven't shown through because of that. I beg to differ (which I haven't really told her) because Sage dosn't really have a disipline course, we don't learn how to deal with children like she does. Also, the teacher I last observed had none of the problem children she has so I am soalking up much diffrent teaching ablilities then I did from Bryce.
Just as a clarification, Molly takes half of each class at a time, Molly and Hellen each get one 2nd grade class each (there are two) so usually their classes do the same things. the 3rd-6th grades only have one class for each class. The kindergarden, first and second grades each have 2 classrooms totaling in 10 classrooms for academics. Each classroom has a regular teacher and a Teaching Assisitant. I know from last year when I observed there (which I didn't get credit for because I forgot to have the teacher sign the paperwork) that when the reguar teacher is out, the TA takes over and a sub fills in for the TA position for the day. I'm not sure what would happen if Molly and/or Hellen where to be out because they don't have a TA.
